Television personality Larry King shocked many of his fans last month when, after twenty-five years hosting CNN's Larry King Live, he decided to call it quits. He also called it quits earlier this year with his wife, country singer Shawn King, but this probably didn't shock his fans as much – this was his eighth marriage, after all. Now, however, they've called divorce proceedings off, citing both the needs of their family and their continued love for each other. But is it both? Are they simply sidestepping the headache of separation, or are they truly made for each other?
Mr. King was born in November of 1933, the Year of the
Water Rooster. Certainly, this explains his success as a talk show host: Water indicates an active, academically-inclined mind, while Roosters are known for being candid and never beating around the bush. Furthermore, the confidence they exude is magnetic – viewers are drawn to King's wry intelligence, even if they would be intimidated being interviewed by him. Mrs. King was also born in November, but 26 years later, in the Year of the
Earth Pig. Pigs and Roosters share a propensity towards speaking openly, even brashly, but the element of Earth indicates a matronly patience. So although these confrontational personalities may often butt heads, the Earth Pig is more likely to relent and keep the peace, than to let a conflict damage a relationship.
Perhaps it's to be expected, then, that Mr. King has had so much difficulty in matrimony: the Rooster's contentious nature could easily drive others away. As an Earth Pig, Shawn can also be volatile – a drug overdose earlier this year attests to this – but eventually her desire for stability will always win out. In other words, not only are they well-matched astrologically, they might be the only ones able to stand each other!
