It’s that time of year again. But before you go buying tons of holiday decorations and cramming presents in your closets, it’s probably a good idea to Feng-Shui your home for the holidays. The added energy of clutter, Christmas trees, presents (and not to mention family members!) can change the vibrations of your home. It’s great to deck the halls and get into the spirit of the holidays, but do it right. A little preparation and a nod toward basic Feng Shui practices will keep your nest harmonious and cozy all winter long. Here are some ideas for things to incorporate into the nine areas that make up the ba-gua map of your home.
-
Fame/Reputation: For this area, add some bright, burning candles. Since Red is the color associated with this area anyway, it’s a perfect compliment to the Christmas season!
-
Relationships/Romance: What could possibly be better for this corner than a little mistletoe?! Bring more love and passion into your partnership. You could also put a picture of your and your sweetie during a happy holiday moment in this corner.
-
Creativity/Children: This is an area that’s great for ornaments, toys, or games. Anything made of metal is a good option. You could also include school projects made by your kids.
-
Helpful People/Travel: Who is more helpful than Santa Claus? Put images of St. Nick here, or you could also include figurines of angels. This may also be a good place to put holiday cards that have come from loved ones.
-
Career: Deep blue colors go well in your career gua. What about a Christmas blanket in the same color or blue sparkly stars? A snow globe might be festive as well.
-
Knowledge: Blue snowflakes? Bare branches? Maybe a nativity scene? Whatever feels inspirational and calming should go here.
-
Family/Health: Since green is the best color here, it’s the best place for your Christmas tree, of course! If you don’t have a tree, put a wreath or greenery arrangement with pine cones or flowers here.
-
Prosperity: What better place than to put presents! You might also want to put an oil diffuser with essentials oils of money attraction, such as cinnamon, basil, or myrrh.
Remember, use your creativity. Part of the fun of Feng Shui is using what you already have and using things that have special meaning to you. Also, be sure to clean your house and clear out clutter before you go putting up decorations. Start with a clean slate and invite warm, magical energy into your space this season.
