By now it should be pretty clear what’s up: Dragon year means action. True, some signs may fare better than others in 2012, but the energy at hand is ambitious, assertive, and powerful – we can all use a little of that in our lives, right?
Right.
Now that we’re a couple months into the year, how are those New Year’s resolutions going? If one of them was to switch careers, you might want to consider the following five fields/professions. No need to quit your day job just yet (unless you’ve already got something else lined up!), but there’s no harm in looking, now is there?
Entrepreneur. Admit it. You’d love to be your own boss. And Dragon totally supports this. Entrepreneurial endeavors – no matter what business you’re in – can make huge strides this year. Take some chances. Put yourself out there. You never know who may be interested in buying your service or product. Build a basic website, design some business cards, and see what happens.
Theater Arts. Have a creative side? The Dragon loves drama, so why not take a few acting classes or join an improv group? Again, you don’t have to quit your 9-5, but if you’ve got the talent – singing, dancing, or acting – this is the year to blow that audition out of the water.
Fashion. The fashion industry should thrive in Dragon year – people are at their creative heights and the world is attracted to glamour and glitz. If fashion is in your blood, consider an internship with a local brand or get a part-time job at a clothing boutique.
Public Relations. If there was ever a time to be a publicist, it’s now. Big things are happening, so why not be the one to break the news? The world of PR could open up lots of doors for you this year, even if it’s not quite the industry you see yourself in.
Technology. What’s the next big thing since Facebook? Get in with the tech industry and you tell me. Huge – and we mean huge – advances are on the horizon in the technology space in Dragon year. You might just make a fortune being a part of it. Not a computer nerd? Consider getting involved in a communications or HR capacity.
