Morgan Scott Peck was an American psychiatrist and best-selling author, best known for his first book, The Road Less Traveled, published in 1978. Peck's works combined his experiences from his private psychiatric practice with a distinctly religious point of view. One of his religious insights was that people who are evil attack others rather than face their own failures. His religious views are criticized by the ultra conservatives. Peck died at his home in Connecticut on September 25, 2005, after suffering from Parkinson's disease and pancreatic and liver duct cancer. Fuller Theological Seminary houses the archives of his publications, awards, and correspondence.
Born 23 May 1936, his primary personality traits are represented by the Chinese Zodiac elemental animal sign, the Fire Rat. Fire makes this the most active and aggressive of the breed. The normally calculating Rat can be quite impulsive and uncharacteristically fall into the "fools rush in" trap as they get caught up in a whirlwind of activity. He tends to be restless and have a need to frequently change jobs and to travel, especially to new and different places. He can burn out if not careful, but he sure is a great person to have around when lots of enthusiasm is needed.
